Grew up an Air Force brat living all over the world, saying yes sir, no sir, yes ma'am, no ma'am. Enlisted in 1981 right after high school graduation and I have been working in and for the military since.
I put God, country and family first and foremost in my life and live by an oath I first took on July 14, 1981.
I believe we all have a right to decide what is best for ourselves, and when it comes to firearms I believe everyone who has one or is contemplating the purchase of one, needs to be informed, knowledgeable, and safety conscious all day, every day!
Enjoy the website, participate if you feel the urge. We are always open to learning and growing our passion!

United States Army Reserve, Ammunition Specialist Career educator in mathematics, information technology, and firearms safety. Former owner of Safety Net Firearms Training.
On May 10, 1985 I took the Oath of Enlistment and firmly believe that oath is lifelong. To that end I have spent a lifetime working to educate others in various subjects hoping to make our country better and stronger.
My work as a firearms instructor has been focused primarily on beginners, the young, the elderly, and those with physical impairments. I firmly believe that anyone who chooses to own a firearm should have access to affordable, high quality, and practical firearms training. Training that is appropriate for a beginner. Once that good foundation is built, there are a great many opportunities out there for gun owners to grow their skills. Every person has different needs and abilities, but we all start at the same place, safe gun handling and building a body of knowledge.
My work for Straight Shooter Mag is a labor of love, interest, and an opportunity to learn from you the reader as you submit your articles, share your learning, offer advice, and even correction. Lets work together to make this site a quality source of information and learning.

United States Marine, Tank Technician; Executive Protection Professional; NRA Pistol Instructor; NRA Range Safety Officer; Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) Instructor for Security Guards, Firearms and Baton, Pepper spray, and Handcuffing, Department of Defense, GS-8.
In August 1997 I joined the US Marine Corps-I wanted to join the best fighting forces there is. If you know any Marines you know there is no better friend nor worse enemy than a Marine. In 2003 I served in Iraq with 2nd Tank Battalion for the Invasion of Iraq. After getting out of the Marines I have worked as a (BSIS) Instructor, as an Executive Protection Professional, and now I work for the Department of Defense continuing to work with the military and serving my country.
I believe if you are going to own a firearm you should receive quality training, learn the best safety measures and train often so you are proficient with your firearms. The key is: Practice! Practice! Practice!
Ricochet

EMail: Ricochet@StraightShooterMag.com
Ricochet grew up behind the trigger of a gun. Sure they were toys at first, but strict range rules were enforced in his home from the start.
Even his cap guns had to be fired using the porch as a firing line and he had to demonstrate the condition of his toy guns as "clear" even at that early age.
By 8 or 9 he was packing his guns to the firing line at a local pistol club. His diligent observance of all range rules led to acceptance among experienced shooters despite his young age.
He even competed as a kid in Cowboy Action shooting and managed a blue ribbon in his first event, even though he was using his fathers adult sized 45 Colt sidearms.
As a teen he helped his father conduct firearm safety classes and began carrying a firearm as soon as it was legal for him to do so.
A fan of military weapons, Ricochet has a nicely equipped AR-15, a selection of this and that, and a Mosin Nagant that he drags out from time to time. While he prefers a Glock as a carry, he has enjoyed 1911s and a variety of other handguns over the years.
A software developer by trade, these days Ricochet spends his spare time at gun stores and the firing range practicing with whatever gun has his interest at the moment. When not squeezing triggers he spends his time reading about firearms and gear, keeping his knowledge and skills up to date.
